The International Strategic Studies Association (ISSA), an international non-governmental organization in the Washington, DC Metro Area, with the patronage of HE Ardeshir Zahedi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran and Iranian Ambassador to the United States, and HIH Prince Ermias Sahle Selassie, President of the Crown Council of Ethiopia, has launched the new Center for the Study of Monarchy, Traditional Governance, and Sovereignty, named the Zahedi Center (after Ardeshir and Gen. Fazlollah Zahedia, former Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of the Interior of Iran).
The Center is devoted to studying monarchy, both sovereign and subnational, as well as deposed or exiled monarchies. It is the first of its kind in the Western world (to my knowledge). Recently, they have launched their website and have begun to publish original research. Beyond research, the Center will also engage in conferences to further understand the roles of monarchy, traditional governance, and sovereignty in the world.
