???Looking for information on Gustav von Netter von Kumarnsky(spelling?), Count de Lodzia of Poland. He was made a Count by King Carol the First.
His son, Julian de Lodzia married my aunt Julia Meehleib. Julian de Lodzia was born in Sulina, Romania.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely and respectfully,

Your relatives are buried in the Lutheran Cemetery here in Port Carbon, PA. We happened upon them when we were in the cemetery at my relatives' gravesites. If you are interested in further information please email me

Sincerely and respectfully, I am interested in your comment that your relative-by-marriage was made a count by King Carol I. Presumably this is Carol I of Rumania? I am interested because it is my understanding that all the monarchical Constitutions of Rumania, like those of all the other Balkan monarchies (i.e., Bulgaria, Greece, Albania, Montenegro, and Serbia/Yugoslavia) prohibited the sovereign from granting noble titles (except sometimes to members of their own families). I know that the title of "Duke of Sparta," sometimes stated to belong to the Greek Diadoch, was not permitted to be used in Greece. Could you say when and under what circumstances Carol I created a Pole a Rumanian count?

My great grandmother was Countess Julia Meehlieb DeLodzia, wife of Count Julian DeLodzia, who was my grandmother Mona Miller's stepfather. My father only recently talked about this, but i remember growing up around my grandma hearing about Count DeLodzia, but at a young age i had no idea what it meant.

I will have to retread the documents but memory tells me he was granted title for winning a pivotal battle for Romania as a general or similar title for the time. I am his grandson

I think it's spelled Comunescu or Comanescu. I am the granddaughter of Julia and Julian. My uncle Julian deLodzia just passed away in May and is buried with them in Port Carol

Hello...my father is John Charles Gall...his mother was Lucy Bournot (sp?)...she had Count Julian deLodzia's illegitimate son...my father...John Charles Gall...he is still alive at 92 and talks about his father, the banker, Count deLodzia!!...at the time he was born, 1924 I think, by French law, my father could not have either parents' last name, he had to have the last name of a saint...so my Grandmother Lucy chose a little-known saint...St. Gall...founder of the hermitage that would become St. Gallen, Switzerland...so the Count Julian deLodizia was my Grandfather...and his relatives are also my relatives...I had no idea that i have uncles, aunts, cousins...?...
...thought you would want to know there is a side to the family...the black sheep of the family...that you are not aware exists...your friend and cousin/nephew...Dr. Daniel G. Gall

Hey! Thanks for all the responses...I had to reset my account from freckles22122, so I'm unable to retrieve any private messages. I'm the great grand niece of the Countess Julia de Lodzia (nee Meehleib). Just recently heard of the distant relative! So Neat to add to the familial story. I was sorry to hear of the passing of "Sonny"; I was hoping to see a memorial/ obituary, but haven't yet been able to locate one. Excited to hear more about this side of the family. Julia was the sister of my great grandfather, Henry Meehleib.

I'm o SO glad people are communicating on this page! So interesting to discover more history. Thank you Dr. Gall for all your information contributions. I am the great-grand niece of Julia Meehleib deLodzia (her older brother was my great grfather, who relocated to western PA & then the family moved on to Corpus Christi TX). I've thoroughly enjoyed learning about the deLodzias and would love to be able to learn more about the assignment of count; I've tried communicating w overseas but the language barrier was too great and I was never able to make contact with someone who could really help on that issue. I was wondering what year your father went to MIT, as another Meehleib went there, graduating in 1946 (age 19) w a chemical engineering degree. I dont' check this site often so you can p-message me and I will hopefully eventually get it. Otherwise you can find me on facebook, we have a family site....you have definitely been talking to deLodzia's I've had contact with. So interesting!
