I have been reading several articles on Saudi Arabia's new King Salaman; its interesting reading the oaths given to him by everyone from family, tribal leaders to common folks; i am curious about oaths given to the British monarch; i know they are made when one is elected or appointed to office, join the armed forces etc. I hope she lives many more years but once The Queen dies will all the government officials, members of the armed forces, etc have to swear a new oath to Charles III?

It's great to see the arrival of royal twins; I know that the title of Marquis of Baux is the traditional title for the heir to Monaco's throne but to my knowledge its the first time a daughter has received a title; just curious if this is a life time title or a hereditary title?

Does anyone know why there will not be a religious blessing at the future King swearing in ceremony? the Catholic church has been such a integral part of Spanish royalty for centuries I find it odd; I am not a religious person but a firm believer in traditions having a place in modern society. In reference to King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia's future title status I have read that they will maintain their titles.

it's a shame to see the King abdicate; he has done so much for Spain;in today's world people seem to value what have you done for me now--not what have you done for a lifetime; I am sure that he feels its what is best for the country and stabilizing the monarchy.

many thanks; being a American its hard to keep up with who's who in ceremonies; the papers rarely provide information other than the main characters.

I understand your train of thought Pauchen about Madeleine not residing in Sweden; but I agree with Dame Margaret that its a great move for equal rights for women; its the 21st century and with most monarchies trending absolute primogeniture why not make her daughter a princess? I think the downsizing planned by The Prince of Wales will not work ; the Swedish Royal Family is not a world wide brand ruling over 16 nations; the Windsor's will be to stretched out to meet the demands and needs of their subjects in todays world.

I actually was going to post the same story via Hello magazine; I had assumed they got their information confused but if the the source is a lawyer for the court there is bound to be some truth. It is the monarch who grants the titles; the King has already broke tradition by creating Daniel Westling a Prince of Sweden with the rank of royal highness. Playing the devils advocate on titles being passed to the next generation why should females not be able to pass their princely status to their own children in the 21st century of absolute primogeniture?

I recently watched The Queen's speech of the latest opening of parliament online; the pageantry was breathtaking, but being a American I did not recognize everyone. Does anyone know who the two very elegant dressed women were that stood to the right of Her Majesty during the speech from the throne? I assume they were Ladies-in-waiting.

I realize the title will merge with the crown when he becomes William V but does anyone know how the Letters Patent were written? i assume to the heirs male of his body; if so then his first born son would be styled HRH The Earl of Strathearn, but a daughter would be HRH Princess x of Cambridge. I think with the coming change in succession laws it will be interesting how the Letters Patent for Prince Harry's future dukedom will read!

I am curios about how the new succession law will apply to the other females in the family; it want be retroactive in the respect that The Princess Royal moves up in line to the throne; but from what i have read it applies to the children of the current Prince of Wales and future generations. Does that mean all children born after the Oct 2011 ( they are backdating to that time frame) of other branch's of family rank in order of birth or just the Wales decedents?

I think that its interesting in the 21st Century that a western European country would vote overwhelmingly to keep such powers; the House of Liechtenstein must be doing something right!now whether that's good administrators, good PR machine or combination of both is the question.

I was surprised that The Queen didn't give out honors for such a historic event; it would have been a great time to give out awards not granted anymore to recognize service to the Queen and nation.

It was a wonderful gathering of royalty, with some controversy, but that aside, why was there no representatives from the monarchies of Cambodia, Bhutan, or Oman? any ideas? I vaguely remember reading months ago that the Cambodian court had never responded
