The Prince of Wales was recently interviewed and one question caught him a bit off-guard. He was asked if Camilla would be queen and Charles - after searching for words for a moment - stated that it could happen.
The royal family are wise in their appreciation for public sensitivity; it can only help their staying power to do so. I see this attribute demonstrated by the fact that Camilla is known as the Duchess of Cornwall although she has every right to be known as the Princess of Wales.
The issue of being a queen consort vs a princess consort is on another scale of importance. I'm no consitutional expert but it seems clear to me that there is no legal reason for Camilla to not be made queen. The largest caveat here is if, in fact, their 2005 marriage is legal. Constituational and legal experts have said it is a legal marriage although I recall reading that one or two have argued that it is not legal.
If Camilla is crowned queen consort in some far-off coronation I'm sure there will be a hue and cry from certain quarters. But who's going to change a law for this? They're not evening bothering to pass the simple act required for the eldest child (male or female) to inherit the crown.
Personally, I think the dye was cast concerning the Queen Camilla issue back in April 2005. Charles' reign will be short-ish and it seems that Camilla is a good support to him. Qu sera sera.

I think that she should become Queen Camilla when Prince Charles succeeds.
When Clarence House made the announcement about the Princess Consort title, I thought they were just pandering to the media. Putting a band-aid on it to get past the wedding. Right or wrong, I can see why they chose her to have the Duchess of Cornwall title instead of Princess of Wales, there's too strong an association with Diana. As for the Queen title, after all of this time it seems it's the media that is making more of a fuss than the public would.
People got over their marriage, they can get over her having Queen title too.

King William IV was 65 when he became King, if Charles becomes King it looks like he will be much older than that !.
