Kate Middleton quit her job at her family's store in order to prepare for being HRH Princess Catherine of Wales.

I've noticed over the years of following headlines concerning her career that many people in the public have a misconception concerning her. The public perception is that she's been doing nothing and has simply been lazing around until the day she might become William's wife.
She tried one or two ventures in the public working world but they didn't work out. I think the fact that she was dating a prince impacted her ability to find and carry out a 'normal' job. I saw an article in the last day or two discussing royals getting 'real' jobs...I think that issue gets tossed around every so often. But those who do go out into the workforce get criticized. It seems they're hanged if they do and hanged if they don't!
I think it's sad that so many people have decided that Catherine doesn't have much ambition (other than marrying her prince), etc. None of us know what it must have been like for her.

Whoa........ wait a minute........ of course she quit her job. But HRH Princess Catherine? Really? Is this official? She is going to be made a Princess in her own right? I read it was a possibility but it was in the Daily Mail or something, not in the Palace statements. I think it would be a good thing because, while I understand and respect the logic behind using the husband's name as a surname, I think it's rather a silly way to do things. Especially for the woman marrying the heir to the heir to the throne, a future king. I mean, Catherine is presumed to be a future Queen Consort. I think it is appropriate to give her an Letters Patent making her HRH Princess. I know there isn't a precedent for it (except perhaps Prince Albert, the Prince Consort?) but it could be a good time to start.

I do so agree with you chewsteraghi on both counts. A) That it would be a nice touch to make Catherine Middleton a Princess in her own right [like happens in Belgium and Denmark] although there isn't a precedent in the UK, not even for Diana. B) Why oh why do people believe what they read in the newspapers as opposed to what is actually issued by [or not as the case may be] by the Head of State who is the font of all honours? We have the same problem at work. HM The Queen has granted an extra Bank Holiday for the Royal Wedding, but whether we actually get the day off isn't in the hands of our Head of State, it is up to our Managing Director!
