I live in a household in which I'm an oddity - i.e. I know the names of the minor royals, those of the European royals, I know the names of the royal ladies' tiaras, etc., etc. I'm over the top in the eyes of my family and most friends.
Hence, for the wedding of William and Catherine, I knew I needed to do something more than shlump downstairs in the wee small hours (I'm in the Eastern timezone of North America) to watch it alone. I'm heading over to a friend's home and she's as keen as I am so we'll have a wonderful time watching the wedding whilst enjoying tea and scones.
My question to you is: have you made any plans for watching these upcoming nuptuals?

Oh, I'll be watching! Sadly, no one around me is interested in royalty, so I'll be watching alone, but I'll be on Twitter during the wedding, if anyone wants to follow: twitter.com/worldofroyalty Our message board's Royal Moderator, Marilyn of Marilyn's Royal Blog, is actually going to London for the wedding!

I'm in Los Angeles where it will be late at night or early morning! I'm renting a hotel room in Hollywood and having wine, champagne and food with a few ex pats!

I'm disgusted by the amount of nasty, rude comments I come across when reading articles about the royal wedding. Sure, not everyone likes them that much, but what have they done to merit such talk?
For heaven's sake, no one's perfect!
Yes, I definitely will be watching the wedding - as much as possible. I regretted not seeing the bridal waltz for Princess Mary's wedding seven years ago, and I won't miss out on anything this time.
By the way (and I do not mean to be offensive), but I do feel that Kate is being overshadowed by Princess Diana's memory. While I appreciate that she was (and still is) a tremendous influence, this is Kate's wedding, not Diana's. I keep feeling that Kate is being squeezed into Diana's shoes, if you get my meaning. Does anyone else feel this way?
At any rate, I am hoping that the TV coverage will be more about the current wedding than about dragging up the past again.

I have taken the day of work, otherwise, I would do no work at work. I would be sneaking a look at it all day on my computer.
Is anyone here from the message board in the MA area going to watch it. If so, I would love to join them for the day it would be more fun than spending the day on my own. Margaret

Welcome, Captiveprincess! You have found a safe haven here. You don't have to be pro-monarchy to post here -- everyone is welcome -- but we don't allow nasty, rude comments.
I know what you mean about Kate being squeezed into Diana's shoes. I get the feeling people are hoping Kate will find the happiness in her role that Diana didn't find, a way to finally have a happy ending to the story.
