I am really glad that TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's tour of Canada is going well. They both look very assured and are working well as a team. Catherine is taking everything in her stride, even if she can't use a spade properly What has surprised me, as a Royal Heraldist, are the new Standards for Prince William and The Prince of Wales. These are based on HM The Queen's special standard for Canada. What a great idea to reinforce thyat Her Majesty is also Head of State of Canada and that the UK Royal Family is also the Royal Family of Canada. What surprised me is the format. Whilst The Queen's and The Prince of Wales's standars have the central circle surrounded by gloden maple leaves, William's is surrounded by alternate golden maple leaves and golden shells, based on his label. But, also, The Prince of Wales's and Prince William's banners carry their labels as well. Why not just the labels? They are distinctive enough. Either way, I think it is a great idea.
