Sad to see the Archduke go, but he did have a good innings. He tried to do so much good work, just like his father Emperor Karl, and, to my mind, would have made a great constitutional monarch.
My many friends in Austria have mixed feelings. On thing they agree on is that his funeral will a) stop the traffic in Vienna, like his mother The Empress Zita's did and b) we won't see its like again.

Thank you Observer. I tried to watch it live through my PC, but of course it wouldn't allow me to as I'm not in Austria. What a ceremony! And everyone walked behind the coffin from the Stefansdom to the Crypt [the long way round]. Even the King and Queen of Sweden. My Viennese friend was most impressed and thinks there's a State Visit in the offing... |
