If Catherine is pregnant, we'll hear for sure from Clarence House. Maybe they'll do like they did with the engagement and announce it on twitter.

Or perhaps from Kensington Palace (where they live) or from Buckingham Palace (if the Queen considers it important enough to announce). The Wessexes second pregnancy was announced by a Buckingham Palace press secretary.

I think timing is a big thing in this situation. The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations are THE big deal in the British RF for 2012 and something like a pregnancy being announced in the early part of the year might somehow detract from it. Also, William and Catherine are scheduled to take part in the sharing of jubilee foreign travels.
Knowing that Prince William's full time military service won't last for a long time, I'm guessing that they may choose to begin their family in this (comparatively) quiet season of life. My guess is that they'd like to time the announcement in the latter part of 2012, if things work out. It would certainly end the jubilee year on a high point.
They've been together for years and she's just turning 30 now. She knew coming into this that she'd need to produce an heir/ess. She comes from a happy family background so I think she's looking forward to becoming a mother.
I'm looking forward to seeing a four-generation photo of QEII, C, W & baby. It would be such an amazing parallel to the 4 generation photo taken of Queen Victoria, the Prince of Wales, the Duke of York and the future King Edward VIII.

Tabloid headline. There's no official announcement from the palace that CATHERINE DUCHCESS OF CAMBRIDGE (not Princess Catherine is a Princess of Argon and she has been dead since 1533)
And we would not hear from the Clarence house. Prince William's office is located at St. James Palace. It would come from there.
With the Olympics, the Jubilee and William being away for 6 weeks this spring this year, I highly doubt they will have the time/energy for a baby. Perhaps in 2013 there will be baby news from St. James Palace.

Any announcements about William and Catherine seem to be going through the Clarence House press department and their twiter account @clarencehouse www.princeofwales.gov.uk/newsandgallery/news/results.shtml?md=&mt=&mr=&mp=The+Duke+of+Cambridge&x=34&y=12So until they start a completely separate website (not an offshoot of the PoW's site). Or a separate twitter account, would think announcements will continue to come via the Prince of Wales' website.
