It was a wonderful gathering of royalty, with some controversy, but that aside, why was there no representatives from the monarchies of Cambodia, Bhutan, or Oman? any ideas? I vaguely remember reading months ago that the Cambodian court had never responded

King Sihamoni of Cambodia attended the 60th Anniversary of the King of Thailand's accession, but they are neighbors. Two ideas come to mind as to why he didn't attend the ceremonies in London. First, his presence was not permitted by the present government or he couldn't afford it - the Cambodian royals have to get permission to travel overseas, I believe (as do many others) and he is not rich. The second may be that there was a question of protocol. Although King Sihamoni is Head of State, his father (by unanimous vote of the Cambodian Parliament) has precedence over him. Great King Sihanouk;s health is not good. In that case, who do you invite?
