Taking all bets on names and gender!

Already? LOL
Well, if it's a girl I think Elizabeth and Diana would be pretty obvious bets.
Some people in the media are saying John is a favourite if it's a boy [after Diana's father], but I hardly think so as John is a very unlucky name in the Royal Family. Charles will be in there somewhere, maybe Thomas [after a friend from the Van Cutsem family and Camilla's son] or Micahel after Catherine's father.
We shall see. As I've said precviously, this generation seems to like to surprise us all...

For some reason I keep thinking it's a girl, and my guess for her name is Elizabeth with Diana as one of her secondary names.
If a boy, I'm thinking James or possibly Richard for the first name. George seems a little too old-fashioned. Maybe even Charles or Philip for the first name?
But yes, maybe they'll surprise us with some very unusual choice, although I suppose the Queen will have something to say about it since the child is a future king or queen.

Edward or Henry for a boy - not Philip as the only King Philip was King-consort Philip of Spain.
Mary or Alexandra for a girl.

Princess Victoria of Cambridge has a great ring to it. It is my choice for a girl. Think of it Victoria II or Mary III! Though Queen Phillipa would be awesome!
Boys names... how about something we haven't heard before? Michael perhaps. James is a pretty good guess. James III or VIII.
They may go Scottish like Alexander to keep the North happy!

I believe that it was established at the time of the accession of the present queen that if any future monarch had a higher regnal number in Scotland than in England, the new monarch would take the next number. So, if a James, he woold be James VIII. If Alexander, then Alexander IV, and so on.

My fingers are crossed that their baby is a girl. I also wanted CP Victoria's baby to be a girl. Like Estelle's birth, it would be historic now that the laws are being changed.
Mary has a nice ring to it and I can't think of a recent member of the royal family with that first name. I can see them naming the baby Elizabeth, which would be a nice tribute to the Queen.
Alexandra is also nice. Even though there is already an Alexandra in the family.
For a boy, I like David. Michael is also a good name.
As long as the baby is healthy, I think that's all that counts.

If it is a boy, I think I can predict with some confidence that he will not be named either John or Stephen, which seem to be unlucky names in the British Royal Family.

Richard has not a lucky history too, none of the Kings of that name died a natural death!.

Richard has not a lucky history too, none of the Kings of that name died a natural death!. But the second and current Richard of Gloucester unexpectedly inherited the Dukedom of Gloucester and is presently living and long and apparently happy and prosperous life.

It's always nice to speculate, even if I have observed that the current generation of Royal Families keep surprising us. My bets would possibly be as follows:
If a boy: George Philip/Charles Thomas/Michael - HRH Prince George of Cambridge, Earl of Strathern
If a girl: Charlotte Elizabeth Carole Diana - HRH Princess Charlotte Elizabeth of Cambridge
We shall see...

I believe that among British bookmakers the names Elizabeth, Alexandra and Diana are the front-runners at 6-1, while George and Charles are the current favourite names for a baby boy at 14-1.
The odds on the child being a baby girl at 2-5 and a boy at 2-1.

Given the news that the new child will be known as Prince A or Princess B of Cambridge, it is interesting to note the full names of the last people to have this title:
1. Prince George William Frederick Charles of Cambridge (26 March 1819 - 17 March 1904), second Duke of Cambridge of the 4th creation of 1801. 2. Princess Augusta Caroline Charlotte Elizabeth Mary Sophia Louise (19 July 1822 - 5 December 1916), later Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg Strelitz, and 3, Princess Mary Adelaide Wilhelmina Elizabeth of Cambridge (27 November 1833 - 27 October 1897), later Duchess of Teck, the mother of Princess Victoria Mary Augusta Louise Olga Pauline Claudine Agnes of Teck (26 May 1867 - 24 March 1953), aka Princess May of Teck, once affianced to the Duke of Clarence and Avondale, but better and later known as Queen-Empress-consort Mary, the wife of George V. Princess Victoria Mary is thus the great-great-grandmother of the new infant Prince or Princess of Cambridge, while Princess Mary Adelaide is the 3xgreat grandmother., if I have calculated correctly. All that being said, there is a range of family names from which to chose to name the new child from those used for its predecessors.

Well, most of us were right with the first name and a few with the middle names, even.
The main thing is that HRH The Duchess of Cambridge was delivered of a healthy baby.
Here's a health unto HRH Prince George of Cambridge!
PS I have written to the College of Arms to ask if anyone has given a thought to the possibility of HM The Queen reaching 105 when Prince George will be 18 and be entitled to a Coat of Arms. As a Prince and Great-Grandchild of a monarch has a thought been given to his arms and an appropriate coronet? [The Princess Royal's grandchildren, though older than George, wouldn't be affected as they aren't royal.]
