Cinderella,it was up on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_in_2008 when I noticed it. I wonder who the 4 Undangs will elect as the next Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan,as unlike the Yang di-Pertuan,the Undangs are not allowed to elect one of their own. Aidan.

How many of you, apart from me,saw the broadcast of Queen Elizabeth II's Christmas message to the British Commonwealth? In case you missed it,you can see it up on both www.bbc.co.uk & up on the British monarchy's YouTube channel. Aidan.

Prince Charles will definitely become the next monarch.I still reckon that he would make a wonderful King.
Despite what the politicians over here in New Zealand think,an overwhelming majority of New Zealanders are totally opposed to the idea of a republic.
My family & I have just cause for being fiercely defensive towards the monarchy itself,& who the monarch is as a person. After all,I did serve under Sir Michael Hardie Boys (Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand from 1996 to 2001) as a constitutional ally, albeit,on a part-time basis.

I have just been informed that H.R.H. the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, who was also a former Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia has passed away. You can read about Negri Sembilan here; en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negri_Sembilan . Negri Sembilan is an elective monarchy, whose monarch, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar,is elected by the rulers of the individual statelets, who are called the Undangs. Aidan.

The Zimbabwean Dollar isn't even worth the paper it is printed on,as a new $500,000,000 note has now been issued.
The Agro-Cheques & Bearer Cheques are going to be pulled from circulation after the end of the year.

The operation needed to be done,as I was ill in hospital for a week back in May,as I had a severe pancreatitis attack.Although the gallstones were like small stones, they were enough to warrant the gallbladder being removed.
I didn't have much of a celebration of my birthday. Thanks for your belated wishes for my birthday.
I'm hoping that 2009 will be a much better year than 2008 was.Let's hope that my luck will change.

Since I was last on the board,I have been busy buying up some more banknotes & coins for my collection.I have been buying up quite a few of the banknotes from Zimbabwe.
I got a Zimbabwean $5,000,000,000 Agro-Cheque as a belated present for my 32nd. birthday (23rd. of November).

Northern Ireland also has a distinctive legal system as well, even though it is strongly influenced by the English legal system.Since 1999,3 out of the 4 British countries have now got their own local legislatures. The odd one out is England. There are even calls for Cornwall to have its own local legislature to continue the tradition of the Cornish Stannary Parliament, which was very distinctive from that of the English Parliament.
Scotland may have been an independent state between 1603 & 1707,but nothing will change the fact that the Scots monarch was also the English monarch as well.

Of course Queen Elizabeth II isn't too old to reign. As for the idea that she should abdicate, that is absolutely preposterous.I've always loved the monarchy,as it is the only institution in New Zealand (as well as in the other Dominions) that is worthy of the respect that it deserves. To me,the monarchy itself represents continuity,& breaking that would spell disaster,as has happened in countries such as both Nepal & Zimbabwe.

Can you please post some photos? There are several Australian coins that were issued in 1981,most notably the 50 Cents, which commemorates Prince Charles' wedding, which was issued for circulation. It would be worth around US$1 in Uncirculated grade.
